No football this past Sunday...so what were we to do?
We did almost nothing! It was great.
Charlie and I ran errands and stopped by one of the local grocery stores, only to find this....
I think Charlie heard some angels singing when he saw that thing. We were there early, and they were just starting to fire it up and I know he was bummed not to be able to get a bratwurst from the world's.largest.grill.period. But I guess it just wasn't meant to be.
We had other things to do..more errands and stuff...stuff that was meant to be....(what do you mean I have a flair for the dramatic?...I know not of which you speak.)
Anyway...as we were finishing our errands I mentioned that I wanted to try on some new tennis shoes. If you haven't heard I am on a mission to drop a few (read:many) pounds that I've put on while being rather sedentary (read:grumpy and lazy) this summer. Christmas goodies didn't help either. So I start trying on shoes...if you know me, you know I started with the clearance/sale shoes and found some pretty comfy ones. Then, Charlie "we don't need no stinkin' sale shoes" Nowak brings me a pair of these...
from the non sale section (cause the man does not look at price tags) and they are super comfy and I'm all excited, so we head out and when we get home (after I recover from the shock of paying way too much for tennis shoes and the fact that I had to buy a size 11) I realize that these aren't just any shoes...oh no...they are the Nike+ shoes. It's workout kizmet....it must be part of a bigger plan. So (with my eye on the prize...which would normally be cake or cookies but is now fitness.. yeah I know it's lame and cookies are way better than sweating but it's necessary...swimsuit season is coming and I don't want to be driven from my new town for indecent exposure while I'm actually fully clothed) I research what these shoes can do for me.
Now tell me... what do you do when you are determined to work out and you've already paid too much for shoes? That's right, you spend more money in preparation for this life changing event. Notice the working out hasn't actually started...we're more in the "gather, shop and plan" stages. Keep up people.
My sister Heather and her husband gave me a Target gift card for Christmas so I promptly jogged down drove down to Target and used my gift card to purchase this (not the iPod, as we already have plenty)....

Stay tuned later in the week for info on how my body "reacts" to Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. It should be arriving any day now and I will let you know how it goes...unless I'm in traction. In which case, I can only blog if I get a nice and helpful nurse...we'll see.
This is the Nike+ iPod Sport kit. Now I know I am late to the game...and I know that you've all seen this... and I have known about it but seriously this thing is FANTASTIC! Like if you don't have one...go buy the overpriced shoes and this thing NOW...you have my permission. It's AWESOME! I know this will help me in this endeavor...and my neighbors will probably thank me come shorts season (which is probably next week). It seriously will be the little motivator to help me when I'm free stylin' it outside...that's code for walking...which is not to be, at all, confused with running.
And just so you all know I haven't gone completely 'round the bend I did have popcorn and soda for lunch on Sunday afternoon when we took the kids to see Paul Blart Mall Cop. Do not judge...baby steps people, baby steps. In the interest of full disclosure...I also made this yummy cake for after Sunday dinner. It has fruit in it so it's a healthy cake...yes, there is such a thing.

Stay tuned for the workout machine that is ME!!!
I won't tell you how much I weigh...ya know cause weight isn't important...but I will update you on any and all pant sizes (and/or numbers of chins) that I lose. And, on a serious note, I won't be dieting because I know I could never keep up with eating special foods and we eat well, it's really just the lack of exercise.
***Disclaimer...I may have at some time during this blog post over exaggerated my commitment and enthusiasm for this exercise thing. We'll see how it goes. The products mentioned have been purchased and it is my full intention to use them...or die trying...which is a distinct possibility.

I, too, am trying to get on the exercise band wagon...trying to start running, which I haven't done at great length since I was 13! For the record, I am pacing myself....and trust me that you don't want to know what that pace is. I, like you, don't diet....I have tried to cut out soda. Maybe we can chat and complain, um I mean, encourage each other over the phone!!
I saw that grill on food network - that's awesome - sorry that Charlie wasn't able to see it in action.
Good luck in your workout endeavors. Believe it or not (well at least for me) it has become something I really enjoy doing and I'm sad when I miss it. However I don't run very much at all. I have one class where the teacher makes us run laps - I conveniently can't make that class most weeks because of volunteering at DDs school - oh darn!
Ok, me too! I have been working out pretty regularly since we got back from Hawaii. Did you notice there are no photos of me in my suit? There's a really good reason for that. The reason is along the lines of 40 pounds more than I weighed when Greg and I met a mere nine years (and two kids) ago. Now here's the part I want you to hear.... I have lost 7.5 pounds since Jan 6th and still eat pretty much whatever I want, just a little less of it. I exercise almost every night at the gym (and shower there too, thanks Avalanche) and it is fun! I don't run either (ugh! I have a car, why run anywhere?) so I "hike". I set the treadmill at the highest incline and proceed to walk at an easy pace while watching HGTV. (Did I mention we don't have cable at home?) Anyway, the point is, I'm the laziest creature on earth and if I can do it, you can do more. Keep us posted! We are all rooting for you, Crystal!
Jumping on the Nike bandwagon using your giftcard from amazon for my b-day to get it online today.. convinced my neighboor to join in too.... I will keep ya posted (you know when I call you each morning)
You crack me up. I'm just going to sit back and see which of you has the best exercise plan and build mine from that. Till then, its guacamole, chicken, pasta, and more!!!!
