Busy

We have been so busy over this Christmas break, I hardly know where to begin. I guess I'll take the easy way out and just start...in no particular order.

First I'll start by saying that my in laws left yesterday and they were here for two full weeks and honestly, it felt like four days.  It went by really fast and, although that pesky virus hit my mother in law, my father in law and Charlie, all at different times, we somehow managed to pack in a lot of really fun stuff.

We saw three movies this Christmas break....THREE...that's a lot!  The first movie we went to see was...

Tale of Despereaux

It was really great.  Brooke had just finished reading the book that morning so we were all geared up and ready.  My mother in law treated us and she, too, enjoyed it.

The next movie we saw was ...

Marley & Me

Now...I'm gonna say that it said it was PG, but I thought there were some PG-13 suggestive moments, but the movie was outstanding and honestly there wasn't a dry eye in the theatre.  If you've been thinking of  getting a dog, as we have been (I know it's insane to be revisiting this idea as our last dog owning expedition didn't go so well), this will send you over the edge and straight to the animal shelter.  A seriously sweet movie about that unconditional love we all know animals (and kids) are capable of !!

Finally, as Charlie's parents left on Friday morning it felt quite strange, so we decided to head out for the day.  We took the kids to lunch at Red Robin....ok little backstory here...our only other visit to a Red Robin was in Anchorage and it was AWFUL, so we have a system of marking bad restaurants off of our list and never going back.  When we moved here the kids saw that there was a Red Robin and have been begging us to "give it another try," as Brooke says, so we decided to do just that...and we weren't disappointed.  It was really yummy and I would go again.  It turned out to be a good lesson learned about second chances...yay Brooke!! After our lunch we headed to the movies, once again, this time to see ...

Bedtime Stories

which was really great.  It was fun and funny and touching too.

I have to say I couldn't pick a favorite of the three movies.  I love that there were enough family movies out that we could do this.  The best part was treating the kids to the fun of totally doing something we wouldn't do this frequently.  By the third visit the kids were like "are we really going to the movies again?  Cool!"  I'm not always the best at stepping "out of the box" so it was great to just be fun and not always so "rulesy"...(it's my blog... rulesy can be a word).

I'm busily loading pics from our other adventures.  More to come this weekend..I'm determined to get all caught up on catching up!
