We Wii

Oh Lord...eeee! I do crack myself up sometimes! OK moving on...

So since school was back in yesterday, Monday was the last day of Christmas break to hang out with the kids. Charlie was back to work and the kids and I spent a lazy morning getting motivated. We finally headed out, got all three of the kids fresh haircuts and then we went to Chili's for lunch. Super fun....we were laughing and having a great time together. Chips and salsa does that for my crew! When we got back home I reminded the kids that they needed to show me how to use the Wii Fit and the Rosetta Stone since they would be in school again. Goodness knows I might break something if left to figure these things out on my own.

So, we have had the Wii for a year or so now and I have enjoyed bowling, tennis, and baseball but honestly I don't really get computer or video games...unless we're talking Tetris...then I am quite the champ.

Anyway, for Christmas this year the kids got the Wii Fit board and it has been used mostly for the Shawn White snowboarding game and some other fun new games that require lots of movement (now that's the kind of video games I like...for the kids).

Well, tonight the kids showed me how to use the workout program which starts off measuring your weight and body fat (yikes) and then it helps you set workout goals and it even guides you through exercises.

First of all, let me say, I think our board is broken (stop laughing) because it said I weighed......yeah right, like I'm gonna announce the number...anyway...it said I weighed A LOT. And then it instantly expanded my Mii character...I suddenly became chubby Mom Mii right before my eyes..see me there on the far right and do you see Brooke's character laughing..coincidence? I think not!

That was depressing...and then it ran me through some drills to find out my Wii age.  This is like.."you are really 37 but the Wii thinks your ___ " because of your ability to balance and stuff like that.  Well, while I'm evidently the size of a moderate farm animal, I also evidently have awesome skills, because it said my Wii age was 35. Which I'm pretty sure means I can officially tell people I'm only 35...right?  Right!!

After that reality check, a pinky swear and blood oath from the kids (and threat of indefinite restriction) that we will not tell daddy how much mommy weighs, I moved on to having the kids show me how to use Rosetta Stone. It's easy and just so everyone knows, I totally rocked out on the French.  I have excellent pronunciation and vocab skills.  Ok fine, yes, I know I took 4 years of French in high school,  two years of French in college, I have been to France, my mother in law is French, my husband is fluent in French...so yes, I guess some of it rubbed off, but still...I have mastered an elementary level of French and my kids were kind of impressed while I was speaking into the snazzy headset that comes with.

And lets face it...when it comes down to it...when you're 35, the only people really worth impressing are your kids!  Wouldn't you agree?

Ah, yes I knew you would say we wii. Get it??? Oui oui...oh never mind!

OK, so I got the Oui, Oui reference right off, but I have never seen an actual Wii, nor did I really honestly know what it was. Not only is your blog hilarious, it is also educational. Tres bien, mi ami! (And that's only one year of HS French 24 years ago and three weeks in Quebec about 22 years ago. DUDE! Have you taken the True Age quiz on FB? I'm like 18 on that - you should try it; you'll get even younger! It rocks!

We Wii as well!! Just so you know...you can put a password on your profile in the Wii Fit game, so only you can get into it and see your "numbers." I, too, think my Wii board is not calibrated correctly. Is it wrong to automatically want to deduct....a big number?!? Happy Wii fitting!!

Crys your blog cracks me UP! I only remember to check my blog friends about once every few weeks but I can always count on a healthy laugh everytime I hit yours! My mother-in-law got a Wii for Christmas and it's still in the box so tomorrow we're going down to Lake Anna to teach her how to Wii. Who knows...I might get used to it and invest in one for our house too. I've Wii'd with my teenage cousins a couple of times and still haven't gotten past the feeling of utter ridiculousness yet...but that's never stopped me from doing fun things, right?

Happy Wii-ing!!
