Imagine our surprise...

Imagine our surprise when we said goodbye, Friday afternoon, to the moving guys and watched our truck leave town...only to see it driving back into town two hours later as we were heading over to Fu Kung for dinner.  Yeah..evidently the truck was having some transmission issues and was unable to make it over the mountain pass loaded with all our junk so it is parked here for the weekend.  So I suppose it's possible, at this rate, we'll beat our own stuff to Texas.

At this point, we are fully checked into the hotel in town (5 of us in a rather small but newly refurbished and very clean room) and just today we finished cleaning the house and having our final housing inspection.  All went well with a big A OK on that. Evidently we are a tidy family. A big public "thank you" to Charlie who did most of the work while I did some small odds and ends, running around and supervision of the kids.

We are spending our last Tuesday in Valdez party hopping.  I had a second shin dig at work and Charlie's co workers are throwing him another dinner to say goodbye.  I'd like to think we are that well liked but the truth of the matter is everyone just likes a good reason to get out of the house when it's yucky outside.  Kidding.....we have made great friends here!

Can I mention the weather?  For those who don't know, I am weather obsessed since moving to Valdez.  I check the weather report daily and sometimes more than once a day.  (At the same time I NEVER watch the news here.    I'm sure there are things I will find have happened in the last two years, and I'm sure I'll be appalled and frightened, but I have been blissfully ignorant for these past two years and it's been lovely.) Ok, back to the weather - it was freezing this morning, literally, and I'm pretty sure after I dropped the kids at school I saw some stray flakes of SNOW!!!!!  It's supposed to be in the 40's tomorrow thru the end of the week so it should be downright balmy by the time we leave midday Friday.

So that's where we are...still in Valdez, still waiting for warm weather, saying goodbye to friends and waiting for Friday to come.
