Even though I had planned to plan some activity this weekend, nothing really materialized. Oh sure there was the traveling outhouses exhibit (seriously), but no one really showed enough interest so we just decided to hang out at home this weekend. We'll see them this week I'm sure before they hit the road.
Sometimes it's good to just relax. We did, however, manage to eat our way through this weekend. The weather has changed from hell-a-hot to just kind- of- hot, so with that we decided to hunker down a bit and spend some family time doing notmuchanothin'.
Saturday started off with breakfast in bed....no kidding. Well, it first started off with Zach and Brooke goofing around upstairs and waking everyone up at O dark thirty, so after I settled them down, under threat of death, I crawled back in bed, only to be awakened two hours later by Brooke carrying a tray full of breakfast. Evidently they felt guilty for waking us up and decided to make breakfast. Zach scrambled up some of his favorite eggs, there were english muffins, well toasted and jellied and two peanut butter and banana smoothies made by Brooke. She had seen my make them once a few months ago and decided to give it a whirl. I neither asked, nor scolded regarding use of the blender....I simply counted her ten fingers still attached and not trailing blood on my white carpet, thanked her and took a sip of my smoothie...in bed, which is really the best place to have breakfast. Surprisingly, this was the only mess left to be cleaned up afterwards. Not too bad. And the breakfast was very good!!!
For those who don't know, I am on a mission to make homemade salsa...yes, I know you can buy it at the store, or on the street corner here, but I want to know how to make my own. I'm getting close to the perfect combo which I will share, once it is perfected. Here are some of my not so secret ingredients. Just suffice it to say we may, or may not have, gone through two family size bags of tortilla chips while taste testing. Now who wants to visit the traveling outhouses, huh?????
And yes as if that was not enough, we had fajitas for dinner.... but before that we had to have some football food. This Sunday was stadium chili cheese dogs. They were really yummy too. Don't they look delicious????
And just to add insult to injury...we also made rice krispie treats. Here's the chef in training...Brooke...
Yes, I'm totally aware the burner is blazing red hot....hello, this kid ran the blender on her own the day before...she's fine. It was all for a good cause....
Our weekend was a bit lame, our food choices were poor, but we laughed a whole bunch and had a great time relaxing together. That's all that really matters, anyway! Hopefully your weekend was just as nice...and maybe a bit healthier!!??!!

It all sounds good to me! Not too sure about the smoothies...I usually like the sweeter varieties with strawberries and such. Sounds like you all had a great family weekend!! It never hurts to chill out and relax...take it when you can!
Your weekend sounded like heaven ..... in theory, anyway. I'm a terribly picky eater so I would've opted for the blander version of everything you mentioned. Particularly anything with onions. Anyway, sounds like you guys are definitely the coolest family on the block! Keep it up!
I again want to come live with you!! but, then you would need to upgarade that sign for both of us to extra wide load... My ego would survive.. because it would be worth it... I will try to create my own salsa today too... I can not be left out!!
