Friday
- My day started at 3:45 am with Brooke getting one of her totally random, middle of the night bloody noses. She has had a few bloody noses this week. (FYI-It's totally inconvenient to be woken up at 3:45 am and have to check all the white carpet in your house between your daughter's room upstairs and your room downstairs to see if there are bloody drips. All was well this time but there have been times that it looks like a crime scene. Poor kid.) I just had to remind myself, it could be worse, it could be vomit.
- Kids went to school dressed in their groovy best as they had a Super '70's dance as a kickoff for the school's fall fundraiser..."cookie dough and greenbacks". Catchy huh?
- The evening found us doing the make your own pizzas or in this case...Brooke and Zach have taken to doing make your own calzone. They are really yummy...and I love the kids' interest in trying new stuff...Miles and I are partial to spinach and artichoke hearts on our pizza. We are what you call "evolved"....right! Then movies afterward.
Saturday
We took Miles to participate in a Pass, Punt and Kick competition. You throw a football, kick a football, and punt a football (yeah, like you couldn't figure that out on your own) get your score added together and the top kids from your age division get to move on to the next level. It was sponsored by Pepsi and I think Miles did really well. We'll know in the next few days.
- Brooke and I decided to work on this snazzy Halloween banner. She was the one with the patience to thread the ribbon through each hole. We love how it turned out and are already preparing to make one for Thanksgiving.
- We also spent some time mastering our skateboarding skills. Miles got this skateboard 3 years ago and has been on it maybe two times, Zach a few times too, but Brooke, who just loves danger and adrenaline, is on this thing fairly often. This weekend she wanted to try to do "stunts." My heart can only take so much..she makes me so nervous on this thing.
And yes, we see you Avril Lavigne. Brooke wants me to make sure I tell you that she was saying "Shaka Khan Dude" ????? Evidently, she's way cool!!
- Also, Brooke discovered the beauty of a nap. She and one of her brothers, who shall remain nameless (his named starts with a Zach and ends with an ary) were fussing at each other and I sent them to their rooms to hang out and when we went to check on Brooke she was fast asleep. When she woke up she told me how awesome taking a nap was, she is all about the nap now. Gee, Brooke, wish I would have thought of that.
Sunday
- ...hello....football.
- I had made a pork roast last night and had leftovers so we made super yummy BBQ sandwiches. They were a hit. It doesn't hurt that we had leftover jalapeno cheddar cornbread and leftover sweet potato casserole from last night too.
- Today also found us making forts in the bonus room upstairs where mom doesn't care how crazy messy it gets as long as we clean up at the end of the day...
- And hanging out in those forts, which by the way, involved moving our furniture around and using every comforter, sleeping bag and bedspread we own.
- And finally, since it has been overcast all weekend and the temps dropped to around 82, we have had the illusion of fall, so we did the only thing we could do. We are making bread in the bread machine...

- And we also threw together a pot of vegetable beef soup. I cannot wait until dinner. We are gonna crank up the A/C and enjoy this "cool" fall weather...then we'll probably go out for a bike ride in tank tops and shorts....what can you do!
Well, everyone, including Charlie is off tomorrow so we are looking forward to a fun family day. Hope everyone had a great weekend.
