A few home projects this weekend...

So since we've moved into the house we knew there were a few things we had to do but we had been so busy getting unpacked and settled that we hadn't gotten to it yet.  On Saturday afternoon I could take it no more.  Our powder room downstairs has an art niche in it????I don't know why...it truly serves no purpose, but it's there and the previous owner had painted it to look like this....

I mean, not only is it a bad shade of orange and painted oh so badly, they had also painted the ceiling the same color as the walls...that really dark khaki color...It was so dark and miserable in there.  It was bad!!

In addition, she must have loved orange so much that she also decided it would be a great ceiling color for the master bathroom ceiling.  Well, just the little room that the toilet is in..thank goodness she didn't do the whole master bath.  At any rate, again it was painted so badly!
We took care of it...and by that I mean I started to paint and then Charlie started to help and then he just kicked me out all together so I went and made yummy fajitas for dinner and everybody won.

At any rate, this is the final outcome, a nice cream colored niche to display what? I don't know yet and a cream ceiling to match the rest of the ceilings in the house.  Amen for good sense!

And then our new toilet room ceiling looks so much better.  You don't feel like you are in a cave anymore.

Now, what to do with the two art niches in the living room???  I swear this is so not an art niche neighborhood.  I suppose if I had friends here and knew what people are putting in their niches I would have a clue, but for now I'll have to find niche fillers on my own.

Meanwhile, after watching Wallace and Gromett yesterday, Brooke and Zach asked for this...

And seriously, 15 minutes later they had this.

Kids are just amazing!!

Ok off to make biscuits for our pot roast dinner...are you sensing a theme?  I think up a project, Charlie actually does the project, and I make the food to eat after the project.
