Go Fly a Kite

For anyone who has been worried about us here in Texas...we are safe and sound and still warm and sunny. No rain...not even a stray shower. While our thoughts are with those who are weathering the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, we are having some near perfect weather.

We are still hot and heavy with the daily badminton games...this one the other night, before we took down the net in prep for the storm, was funny.  Zach, as usual, putting the "bad" in badminton and took out a dragonfly.  It was an accident that turned Brooke into a super star in her class the next day.

We did get some increased winds today which made it perfect for, what else, flying kites. We headed over to a local school and had room to groove with no power lines and lots of space.

We also made sure to take the football.  It was good to get out. There was a breeze to keep things cool in the middle of the day.

Miles looks like a college kid these days doesn't he?

Even I got roped into throwing a few...I will be taking some Advil for the pain that is sure to be coming after excessive use of my upper arms.

Fun stuff!

We also watched football and our super snack for today was hot wings and pretzel snacks.  Try these quick and easy pretzel snacks.  The kids loved making them and eating them too.  Take small square "snaps" type pretzels and place them on a baking sheet (I covered my baking sheet with parchment for easy clean up)...place a Rolo on each pretzel....put them in the oven at 200 degrees for about 8-10 minutes...take them out and push two plain m&m's on top pushing just a little to mush the rolo towards the edges of the pretzel.  Be careful they are warm.  Now either let them set up for a few hours or stick in the fridge for 45 minutes and then eat them.  Make as many or as few as you like but I suggest a bunch...that mixture of sweet and salt is SOOOOO good.  ****OOOh good tip...to make them festive you could use the special m&m's that are available for each holiday...yeah that's me..always thinking!!
