After this post you will all know what a real grinding halt my life has come to....sad, but true. Even sadder is that I get so freakin' excited about appliances. I am passing this creepy trait on to my kids as they were actually chanting, when they saw it today after school,...chant with us "brand new fridge, brand new fridge, brand new fridge" I told you it was creepy...and to think, you all actually chanted with us!
So remember my long winded post about all the appliances we bought and my love of my local Sears store? Yeah so, about 15 seconds after my gagillion dollars in appliances got installed a few months ago I knew I didn't "love" the fridge. It was nice, I liked it, but I didn't love it. And lets face it, if one of my kids isn't going to college because a new fridge costs as much as it does...we should love it...the fridge, that is...well, the kid too. So I just decided to suck it up and move on. Except, everyday I use it, look at it, wipe the millions of fingerprints off of it...and then I grew to resent it...and that's when I knew...it had to go. Thank goodness I happened to look at my receipt...neatly filed in my receipt binder...we are freaks...and it said I had ninety days to return or exchange it...it was only day 87 so we did just that.
I had to deal with the owner of the Sears and he was pleasant but less than pleased, I could tell...and mostly because I waited until three days before the ninety days was up (hello...the policy isn't "within 86 days"), so he honored it..gladly took my money for the new, more expensive fridge I picked out and sent me out the door (probably hoping to never see me again).
So here she is, and I was instantly in love when they brought her in and hooked her up. My only complaint..I now have to wait like 5 days for the ice to fill up so I can have crushed ice again. How quickly I have become addicted to the life of luxury that we call crushed ice.
I felt, much about this fridge, as I did upon seeing Charlie for the first time 20 years ago...my little heart skipped a beat and I got a bit flushed. Hey, I warned you my affection for appliances was downright creepy.
Now is a good time to point out some great fridge stuff that I like to have on hand...yes this blog has completely gone south and I have lost my mind showing you the contents of my fridge. Let's see - first we have milk. Then my favorite orange juice ever...Simply Orange, we always have one or more jars of salsa (and that was before we became Texans), strawberry jelly, and Plochman's mustard...my sister in law, Kelly, had this at her house many years ago (I think her bank had an account with these folks) and ever since eating this mustard I have not been able to eat any other prepared mustard...French's could take a lesson from these folks. OOH and I would be remiss if I didn't mention the Mike's Mike-a-Rita. When we lived in Valdez this is the only margarita you could get at Ernesto's Mexican Restaurant. It's important to note that you should fill a glass with crushed ice and pour the bottle of Mike A Rita over it...it's totally low rent but it's yummy.Ok and since Charlie is at work tonight...I know I can hardly believe it myself, I am snuggling up on the couch with a movie and a cup of hot cocoa laced with this...
So there you have it...a day in my life. Hey----stop snoring, wake up!!
