Summer Vacay: Part 2

I have so many pictures of our vacation that I was having a hard time selecting which to show so then I decided to break the trip down.

So here is our little jaunt to Virginia from Texas and by "little" I mean 24 driving hours.  We got a late start on Friday afternoon so we drove until about 1:30am and found a hotel.  Then we started off on Saturday and Miles, using my iPhone, looked up some spots to eat at in Memphis.  We watch Diners, Drive Ins and Dives on the Food Network so he checked their web page listings and found this spot....BBQ of course.

It was actually quite tasty and not far off the highway at all.

We drove late again on Saturday in the hopes that we would get to Virginia but it was just such a long drive.  We found a room and got up rather early on Sunday so we could celebrate Brooke's birthday....poor girl has had as many travelling/moving/hotel birthdays as she has had at home birthdays. (I'll do a seperate little post about her birthday because she totally deserves it!)

At any point we were back on the road with only about 3.5 hours left to go. This is one of the things I love about Virginia....all the beautiful leafy green trees (that turn to beautiful multicolored leaves in the fall). Don't mind my "through the bug covered windshield picture." You get the idea.....aaaaahhhhh!

Since I had been talking/texting my sisters the whole trip I knew that my sister Heather and her husband were taking my dad to lunch for Father's Day (yes it was Father's Day Sunday too). We were able to coordinate and our family was able to surprise my parents for Father's Day. I know it was a great treat since we hadn't seen my parents in 3 years.

Our trip to VA wasn't as eventful as we normally make our road trips but my eagerness to get there and our last minute planning (and no budget planning) made it a low budget trip.

I knew there would be plenty of treasures waiting for us when we got there so I wasn't too worried about it. Just thinking about the long and tiring trip makes me want to do it all over again.  It was seriously long and very tiring but I seriously want to do it again....tomorrow...that's how much I really love Virginia...and I'm so not kidding!
