Say it ain't so...Momma's drivin' a Buick!

True story!!! I fought it for several months. We have been reluctant to give up the Suburban...this was our third one...we love them. For 9 years I have driven what I refer to as "the bus" and we have loved the comfortable and spacious interior they offer. We never worried about buying a piece of furniture, a TV, going on a road trip with everything under the sun or driving to and from Alaska (remember those days?)... but it's also a really big vehicle to drive and park all day, every day and with gas prices the way they are, it's a little tough on the wallet. With our oldest driving his own vehicle and heading off to college ($$cha ching$$), and our middle guy getting ready to get his permit, we figured we would start looking into downsizing while we had good value left on our trade-in. So yesterday we said goodbye to the last bus....

And today I am here to say, I am not someones granny and I'm driving a Buick...seriously...there's no punch line...and it's a good thing! We'd driven it before, I resisted because it was a Buick...I test drove the GMC Acadia...basically the same car...but not really...then test drove this again and decided that downsizing the car didn't mean we had to give up comfort and the bells and whistles we enjoy.

We didn't want a sunroof but we ended up with two of them...yeah in that smaller car...weird right? And we gave up our DVD player for those long trips but our kids are all old enough to have iPods and iPads and laptops to watch their individual movies on..or here's a thought....maybe they could look at sights as they go by and participate in family conversation??? Hmm...we'll see!

I'm looking forward to new road trips and maybe packing a little lighter...ehhhh...we have a roof top Thule so we'll see about that!! It's exciting change!
