Long Time, No Post

I know, I know...long time no post! But I come bearing gifts... an awesome recipe for homemade ranch dressing.

I LOVE ranch dressing in restaurants. But at home I always choose Italian because I can never find a bottled ranch dressing that I like, let alone LOVE. They are always too thick and the taste is just off. Well, I finally decided to do a little research and find a recipe that I could make at home and enjoy. I am happy to say it didn't take long and I really do LOOOOOOVVVVEEEEE this version. I even planted chives in my garden ( more about that, next post) so I can make this whenever I need to (which will be often). This recipe is based on the Pioneer Woman's recipe, and these are the specific ingredients and measurements that I used to make my favorite batch.

1 cup mayonnaise (I used Hellman's)
1/2 cup sour cream
1 clove of garlic (I used a microplane to grate it so it's very fine)
pinch of cayenne pepper (or more to taste)
salt and pepper to taste
parsley flakes (till it looks pretty, sorry I didn't measure)
1 and 1/2 tablespoons chives
buttermilk or regular milk to thin to the consistency you like (I used a combo of both but next time I will probably just use milk)

I used a mayo jar to mix it in and refrigerate it. It is best after it sits for a while, like maybe over night. It's so yummy. I have eaten salad for lunch and dinner every day since I made it and, since I made it fairly thin (which is how I love it), a little goes a long way. You could make it with lowfat, no fat ingredients but I can't attest to the flavor. Enjoy and let me know if you make it and how you like it!

P.S. Those Texas Toast croutons are AWESOME...technically, they deserve their own PSA but consider it a "gift with purchase."
