Lucky Boy

So it's about two weeks after Christmas and your guitar loving, straight A, just got an Outstanding Student Award at school for Science (he's the only pre-AP science student in his grade who got a 100% on his midterm exam), 8th grade son asks you if he can get a new guitar and he wants to pay for half...what do you do? You think about it for like 2.2 seconds and decide uuuh yeah!!! So today we headed out to the guitar store and he picked this out.

It's official he has a collection and he's playing better and better by the day. It is a treat to hear him up in his room just strumming away. It's also a treat to see the smile on his face when he's playing. Great kids deserve great rewards! And Zach, is most definitely a great kid!!

Saying...until next time

Today our holiday visit from Charlie's parents came to an end.

They were able to spend two weeks here with us. We did a lot in those two weeks. Hit our favorite restaurants, played tennis, celebrated Christmas and the New Year, went to the McNay art museum (where the "ModigLeon Incident of 2010" occurred...separate post), picnicked at LBJ State and National Park (after not getting into Enchanted Rock State Park),

this photo is hysterical...me, with the map up on my iPad, and my father in law using a paper map

a little post picnic photo

went to the movies, took them to see Luckenbach, TX, of country music song legend,

too funny

I love this pic of Charlie and his dad

played games, went shopping and ate lots and lots of treats together! We had a lot of fun and poor Brooke was beside herself, crying, for a bit after they left. It's always hard to say goodbye to family when they live so far away, so I think we have resolved to just say....until next time! Which should be this summer so, it's not too long to wait at all!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year 2011!!

This is how San Antonio kicked off the year 2011...as seen on TV here at our house.

We all managed to keep our peepers open until the clock struck midnight!

We made some toasts....

maybe a fist pump or two...

a few more toasts...and then....

For all our party animal spirit at 11:59 pm, come 12:15am we were lights out and snug in our beds. It's always good to start the new year off well rested!

We are looking forward to the new year and wishing everyone great success, health and happiness!!
