Wimbledon Here We Come

Tennis lessons have begun...and Brooke is doing very well. Better than her mother who is also taking tennis lessons. It is true what they say...you really can't teach an old dog new tricks! We'll rely on Brooke for the talent and entertainment!!

Bane of his existence

My name is Charlie, and I'm an addict...a soda addict!

'Tis true! Charlie has been a soda lover, specifically Mountain Dew, for years. Sure he's quit a time or two but let's face it, drinking a pot of strong coffee in place of several Mountain Dew each day means, well, you really didn't get anywhere.

So a few months ago Charlie gave up the coffee and slowly migrated back to "the dew." He was fine at first...just one here and one there...he could stop any time he wanted. But these past few weeks, with the pressures of school, he has been staying up late writing papers and riding on his BIG caffeine high. Cut to earlier this week when for two straight nights he got practically no sleep at all because he was so wired. Yeah, and if you've ever shared a bed with an insomniac you know that if one person isn't sleeping, it's likely the other person isn't either. This is not beneficial to a happy marriage; just ask the bags under my eyes.

So, as of today, Charlie will no longer be "doing the dew." As a token of his efforts he took the last remaining soda in the fridge and had Miles take some photos of him proving that he will, in fact, be swearing off the caffeine.

Now, let's see how long it takes before the caffeine withdrawal headaches arrive...I'm sure that'll be much prettier than the insomnia. Wish us luck...we are gonna need it!!!!

Also, just testing out my new Photoshop program...I have no clue what I am doing, but I'll get there.

Summer Vacay

No more homework.....

No more books............

No more teacher's dirty looks!

Wahoo....Summer vacay is here!!!!!!!!

Some of us are starting tennis lessons, Brooke and maybe mommy, and others are trying to see how much video game playing they can get away with, Miles and Zach, and still others are taking an insane amount of college classes, Charlie. But all of us will be spending lots of time poolside, relaxing, enjoying the mornings of sleeping in and the lazy days without scheduled dinner times and bed times.

We'll even be enjoying wacky snacks like these....

Yeah, none of us are sure about these..but we are givig them a whirl, for the sheer fun of it.

Update: they were awfully sweet and ketchupy tasting...fun but not sure they'd be regular chips in my house.

Brooke has been taking art lessons/class once a week after school. Recently her teacher had an art show and here are some of the pieces that Brooke had in the show.

Good stuff right? We are proud of her efforts and yes, we all know she gets her artistic ability from her daddy...I'm a bad stick figure drawing kind of gal!
