More strawberry stuff

I know you are probably thinking...enough already. But this time we went berry picking and it was so fun. On a hot tip from a friend, we headed to Marburger Orchard in Fredericksburg, TX.

Team work is the way to get this sweet job done....

Look, that sweet little girl found a big, sweet berry...

and in just under an hour, the five of us had picked more than 21 pounds of strawberries.

So what do you so with that many strawberries? Great question....the answer to which I hadn't considered while we were happily picking.

you wash and eat them.....you figure out quickly how to make strawberry preserves with them....

and you freeze some for smoothies so that when the Texas heat starts to get to ya, and you need something cold and sweet to take the summer edge off, they are ready.

And it was such a great time, we will be heading back soon to pick blackberries...except maybe not 21 pounds of them...

and later this year...tree ripe peaches....aaaah I can taste them now. And peach cobbler too!

This was a fun and super yummy day! So glad we discovered it.

Poteet: Revisited

Last Sunday we headed to....

to go to the.....

Once we arrived we had the pleasure of watching a show by.....

Andres from Columbia courtesy of the Victoria Circus. It was mesmerizing to see Andres from Columbia (though Charlie is sure he was from Hoboken, NJ) a full 5 feet off the ground. I do wish you all could have been there. There was the clown on the trampoline act, the high wire act, and the Sphere of Death with the motorcycle riders driving crazily around a metal cage trying not to kill themselves or each other. Lets just say it's a good thing this was "free" with the price of admission.

After the circus act we started hunting for the thing we came to see, eat and enjoy. And look here...we found it.

I think Brooke's face says it all....

This is very good stuff!!!! Sooooo good!!

We didn't stay for tooo long this year as a few of us were battling allergies but we had a great time while we were there and saw this on our way back to the car....

And oh yes we did!!!

She shoots...She scores

Last weekend we travelled to San Antonio for an away soccer game. I am very pleased to announce that during this game Brooke made her first goal!! She normally plays a defender position so her chances of making a goal, especially at this level, are few and far between, but the coach decided to switch up some girls in different positions and Brooke moved forward and made it happen!

She was so excited and, I think, shocked that it got all the way into the net that it took a moment for it to register.

Here is her commemorative ball to display in her room. We started this whenever the boys would make home runs when they played baseball. It's fun to have a memory on display to remember that special moment. We are all so excited for her and are very proud of all her efforts!!!!
